Currently congress is debating the "National Right to Carry Act" that would allow authroized carriers to carry their weapons across the state lines. Currently, CCW permits are issued by the state and each state makes it's own rules. Some states accept out of state permits, but many do not. Some states like Illinoise don't accept or issue any permits.
Ironically, the states that don't allow honest law abiding citizens to carry concealed weapons are also the states with the highest rates of gun crimes. That means the by the state taking weapons "off the streets"gun crimes go up!
With gun violence skyrocketing in NYC after they significantly restricted legal firearm ownership, the mayor of New York is blaming surrounding states. He now says that we need a national hand gun ban!
The problem is criminals are criminals. They don't care if it's illegal to carry a pistol. They still carry. When we eliminate the legal carriers, it emboldens the criminals. Studies have shown that metro areas and states with looser firearm laws for law abiding citizens have less gun crime. It's obviously not because there are less guns on the streets.
I carry a pistol not because I think I need it, but because I believe all law abiding citizens should. Who would the cowerdly criminals rob if they knew everyone had a gun? If you are not familiar with firearms, take a class. Education is the key to gun safety. If you live in a state with strict gun laws, write you senator or congressman.
