UPDATE: Cities of Fairview and Birdseye Evacuated!

Recently, extremely dry conditions in Utah brought on by an unusually dry winter, have fostered numerous wild fires. I haven't lived in Utah long, but I've never seen Utah on fire like this. Dozens of Fires are burning in Utah and unless something changes, dozens more will ignite.

The fires have already caused evacuations of several different residential communities; Eagle Mountain Fire, Fire in Sanpete County, S. Utah, Millard County. This made me think about the much fantasized bug out.

In an emergency situation, the last thing you want to do is "Bug Out." My friend at The Daily Prep made a good argument about this in "The Fallacy of Bugging Out." The fact is that all your preps, supplies, and storage are at home, not to mention shelter. You don't want to leave unless you have to. However, these fires have forced thousands to leave their homes not knowing if or when they will return.

Sometimes Bug Outs are real. Not that you'll likely be leaving your house on foot to live in the woods, but it is important that you are prepared to leave your home on a moments notice. Be prepared to gather the things that cannot be replaced: photos, journals, etc.

Have a plan. Be prepared. If you are prepared, you will not fear.

I'm Heading For The Hills!

I believe that within my lifetime I will head for the hills. I am not some crazy fringe right wing coo-coo. I am a 3.97 GPA, BS Business Finance Magna Cum Laude Graduate. I love economics, finance, history and politics. I also love freedom.

Some people believe that we can tell the future by looking at the past. It is also said that history repeats itself. It's simple cause and affect. Do one thing and get a specific result. Specific government/economic/monetary action causes specific results. Therefore, by analyzing political and economic policies we can determine the future of our political and economic state.

The world is heading toward a "New World Order." There are evil forces in this world, and they are hard at work while the common freedom loving man is sleeping. Freedom is in jeopardy. If you say that they call you crazy, because they know you're right.

There are two types of socialist/liberals/progressives; 1. useful idiots, 2. evil power hungry idiots. The useful idiots are ignorant of and submissive to the manipulation and control imposed by the evil power hungry idiots. Nevertheless, both categories destroy the freedom loving way of life.

"If we lose freedom here, there is no place to escape to. This is the last stand on earth" (President Ronald Reagan). If you think otherwise you yourself are ignorant. Study history. Study finance. Not what someone tells you, but what you can read and find yourself. Go to the source! You will see what I see and know what I know. You will also have joined the minority of well informed individuals. You will know that within my life time, and perhaps your's, I will head for the hills.

Evolve Survival Kits

Nowadays, it seems like everyone and their mom is selling some sort of generic 72hr kit. All of them containing the same made in China stuff. Let's face it. If you ever have to "But Out" it will likely be for more than 72 hours. However, few people have taken survival beyond 72 hours.

Although there is no substitute to your personally gathered BOB (bug out bag), EvolveAndSurvive.com comes pretty close. They have a selection of kits that range from the typical 72 hours to 18 days! I've been looking for extreme BOB's for a while, and Evolve's 18 day "Evader" is as close as I have came.

The "Evader" kid includes the basics for water, light, heat, shelter, food, first aid and survival tools. I feel it could use some body warmers, and includes an unnecessary chair. You would also want to supplement it with some additional clothing, medicine, and personal needs depending on the person. Though, that is true with any survival kit.

Overall it is a decent attempt. I think they could do better. There are some items that I wouldn't consider high quality, but it's a pretty good kit. Check it out for yourself and let me know what you think.
